OUR COMPANY

Set in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, our company  was born from our collective love of all things outdoors.  We are family oriented and family operated; as close friends, we enjoy proving our equipment each time we go kayaking, mountain biking, and taking the road less traveled. Our natural surroundings have inspired North State Overland to outfit explorers for adventure in the most remote parts of the country.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to make connection with the natural beauty of America more accessible, more affordable, and more fun than ever before. We build high-quality products in hopes of getting families and friends outside, exploring together.   We combine innovation, engineering, and quality craftsmanship with premium materials to create the most versatile products in the industry.

Our Team

Cannon Dillon

Cannon Dillon

President

Having graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering through the NC State - UNC Asheville Joint Engineering program, Cannon was inspired by his father’s small business career to attempt self-employment. He spent two years building a small service business while planning a career move into product design and manufacture. Given the opportunity to provide engineering services to AlphaTech on a by-project basis, Cannon became involved with North State Overland as a designer. He intends to capitalize on every opportunity the company offers to improve his abilities in product design, videography, and marketing – all while pursuing awe-inspiring adventures throughout America.

Peirce Carpenter

Peirce Carpenter

Lead Engineer

Both an Eagle Scout and US Marine, Peirce has been called to exploration and adventure throughout his life. His hope is to pair an NC State engineering education with his lifelong enthusiasm for design in an effort to make the American backcountry accessible to more people than ever before. He believes that simple, effective solutions are usually the most robust, that they often provide the best value for money, and that they make a solid foundation on which people can build their next outdoor adventure. Incorporating this belief with North State Overland’s mission to create the best products in the industry, Peirce contributes computer-aided design and simulation to NSO’s development program.

James Dillon

James Dillon

Logistics Coordinator

Being raised on a 15 acre farm inspired James to be a maker from a young age. After a brief introduction to blacksmithing, he decided to build a forge and has been making knives ever since. James is also a backpacker and artist and plays guitar and drums. He is a native to Western North Carolina and enjoys the opportunity to work with a company that promotes the exploration of the most beautiful parts of the state and country. James supports NSO in logistics and will make sure your product is safely and efficiently shipped.
